Speed cameras do operate in Tasmania . There are permanent cameras on the Tasman Bridge Q. What are the speed limits? A. Speed limits vary form 40 klm school zones, 50 and 60 klm town zones to 80 - 110 klms highway zones. Speed limits are well signed. Q. Do you have to stay in camp areas all the time? A. It is advisable to use camp areas as often as you can, however some towns offer free overnight parking. If parking in pull off areas you would need to make sure there is no signage stating camping is not allowed. Q. Do you require park passes to visit the National Parks? A. Yes you do. These may be purchased at some information centres, service Tasmania shops or at the parks. Q. Can you see wild life in the wild? A. In country areas wild life will come to the side of the road especially at dusk, but this can be hazards if driving. In places such as Cradle Mountain the wild life will come in close to the camp areas and chalet if you are quiet. Q. What is the weather like? A. Difficult question. You need to be prepared for all types of weather all the time. Temperatures vary from in the minus's in the winter to early 30's in summer. Our weather can be very unpredictable at all times. Q. Dose Tasmania get snow? A. Yes we do get snow in the winter and early spring, but not in all areas of Tasmania . Q. Is 5 days enough time to drive around Tasmania ? A. Yes you can drive around Tasmania in 5 days but you will not have time to stop and enjoy what Tassie has to offer. 10 to 14 days or longer would be comfortable. Q. Dose Tasmania have toll roads? A. There are no toll roads in Tasmania .
