HOBART, Tasmania 's capital city.

Hobart is Tasmania 's capital city and was the first capital in Australia . Hobart is a picturesque city with Mt Wellington as the back drop and the Derwent River in front, truly form to make this, in my opinion and many other visitors 'the most beautiful capital city in Australia '. In the winter months the city is a glow with snow covering the mountains and spectacular sun rises, sun sets and crystal calm clear waters. You can feel the freshness of the air in the cool crisp atmosphere which can easily set up for a romantic night as you cuddle up to keep warm.

There are many large old buildings around Hobart , but the most noted is around the docks and around Salamanca . There is no shortage of wining and dining or entertainment in and around this area. Asking for a recommended restaurant is not an easy question to answer as they are all exceptional and have there own unique menus and fantastic staff.

The Tasman Bridge is the gateway from the eastern shore to Hobart , which in 1975 a big ship, 'The Lake Illawara' hit and sent 127 meters of the bridge plummeting 60.5 meters onto the vessel below. The remains of the Lake Illawara and the fallen part of the bridge still lie 35 meters under water on the rivers floor. There are walk ways over the bridge and offer a great view down the river and both the eastern shore and Hobart .

The History of the early settlement in and around Hobart seems to be endless and is worth well going on a history tour or visiting the museum, as it is quite fascinating and hard to believe how the town once was.
