Ross, Heritage Highway . Straight up the guts. Ross is situated half way between Hobart and Launceston on the heritage hwy (midlands hwy). Ross is a tiny town, which appears that the time has stood still for many of years. The streets of Ross are lined with convict buildings comprising of houses, hotels and a church. The Ross bridge was built by the convict stone masons many of years ago and still looks as strong as ever. Just by observing the buildings and bridge, you realize how amazing and the effort put in by the convicts, as there wasn't the machinery as we have today.
Once in Ross, there are a number of old style cafés and bakery's to sit down at and unwind. If you have more time why not pop in to the Man o Ross hotel for a great counter meal which are well priced. |
